There is something about God´s love for us that compels us to reach beyond our own needs, wants and desires to help others. In all we do, we show love. And in showing love, we become living representatives of God for a world that desperately needs what only He can provide. HighPoint Fellowship is sharing the message of Help, Hope, and Healing in all kinds of ways.

Vanessa Carthel is enrolled in the AIM (Adventures in Missions) Program sponsored by the Sunset International Bible Institue.

AIM is an apprentice missions program for college-age young people. The Adventures in Missions program is a focused effort by and for Christian young men and women to work together to strengthen the church and bring the lost to Christ. AIM is a minimum two year commitment to study and grow and then to go teach and serve. The first eight months of AIM are spent in Lubbock, Texas studying God's Word and training for the field experience. After eight months in Lubbock those students approved for the field spend a minimum of 14 months on a foreign or domestic mission field (and up to 22 months, depending on each student's choice). Students go in teams which are formed after about the fourth month of their time in Lubbock.

Support

The intensity of the program is such that students cannot work to support themselves while in Lubbock, or during the internship abroad. Staff and students alike--rely on the freewill offerings of those who want to participate in missions. Vanessa's support comes from you.

How can I share?

One of the most exciting and interesting ways to share Jesus is to give a personal testimony. Your testimony is the basis of your witness. It is your story, your firsthand account of what God through Christ has done in your life.

These are three basic characteristics of a personal testimony:

  1. IT HAS AUTHORITY. You may not be able to answer many questions about the Bible; however, you are the only authority in the area of your experience with Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.
  2. IT COMMUNICATES. It reaches out and expresses to people your very heart and life. You are not talking merely in theological terms, you are speaking about the things in life with which you are familiar. You are telling others what you have experienced with Jesus Christ.
  3. IT RELATES. As you talk about your experiences with God you are relating with people whose lives are like yours and who are seeking to understand the change that Jesus has brought about in your life.

You should have something like:

  1. My life before Jesus.
  2. How I realized I needed Jesus.
  3. How I received Jesus.
  4. How Jesus makes my life full and meaningful now.
