Where do I start?

1. This section can be overwhelming – eat this elephant one bite at a time – 5 to 10 links or tricks per day.

2. The Job Board Directory – most people know there are job boards, and some might know the “big 4” (Monster, Hotjobs, Careerbuilder, Dice) – but don’t know there are hundreds more.  The Job Board Directory is a complete list, broken down by location and specialty.

3. Boolean searches – Google has an “Advanced Search” web page:  http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en.  Local jobs can be found using this tool.  Fill in the blocks starting with “all these words:”, and the top will be constructed for you.  Here is an example: 

4. Click “Advanced Serch” – 6,740,000 potential listings came up.  This can be narrowed by putting in specialty (plumbing) or by using “But don’t show pages that have..” and putting in keywords, like mining, foundation, or things that we don’t want.
